The Bra Fie Tournament is more than just a basketball competition—it’s a cultural immersion in Ghana’s rich heritage. “Bra Fie,” meaning “come home” in Akan, invites participants to experience authentic Ghanaian culture, meet its people, and engage in the local sports scene.

Event Highlights

Day 1: Arrival & Orientation

  • Welcome: Arrival in Accra, transfer to camp residence.
  • Orientation: Introduction meeting.
  • Welcome Meal: Fusion of local and continental dishes.

Day 2: The Experience Begins

  • Morning Practice: Training at the University of Ghana.
  • Accra City Tour: Explore markets, crafts, and street food on an open-top bus.
  • James Town Walking Tour: Discover historical sites and local culture.
  • Warm-Up Tournament: Play against teams from the Accra Youth League.
  • Lunch by the Ocean: Enjoy Ghanaian cuisine at a waterfront retreat.
  • Kwame Nkrumah Mausoleum & Accra Arts Centre: Learn history and shop for souvenirs.

Day 3-5: Tournament Action

  • Game Days: Engage in round-robin play, followed by playoffs and finals, combined with music and performances.

Day 6: Out-of-Town Trip

  • Aqua Safari Resort: Relax and dine by the River Volta.
  • Nkyimkyim Museum: Delve into Ghana’s cultural heritage.

Day 7: Farewell Breakfast

  • Farewell: Final breakfast, games, and goodbyes before departure.
